Basted in Black is a platform that represents and highlights Black chefs: what inspires them, their experience in the culinary industry, and how they use influences from around the world and from the past to create masterpieces.




Throughout history, Blacks have created memorable cuisine by blending spices from around the world to create exciting culinary masterpieces. From the foods of Africa the spices of the Caribbean to the Soul Food of America, the Black contribution to food culture is unmatched.




WHY BASTED IN BLACK

While there is no argument that Blacks have contributed to the foods of the world, their representation to the culinary world is less as a respected chef and more of the cook on the line. With only 10% of the chefs in America identifying as Black. Basted in Black hopes to encourage Blacks around the world to embrace and create by hearing from those who are living Black History.
